Nobody gives the black girl mob credit for being smart as fuck. They clown but at the end of the day they are really intelligent.

And it’s not subtle at all.
Taystee is a math prodigy in addition to being well-read, Poussey is multilingual, Cindy just knows shit, Suzanne studies Shakespeare, Watson was a good student in addition to being a track star, Vee is basically an evil genius. Piper often learns the most from them; they taught her how to fight and helped translate Pennsatucky’s biblical threat.
The show flat out acknowledges the (academic) intelligence of the black inmates time and time again, but the audience collectively ignores it.

ALL OF THIS

it always disappointed me that Monster Girls are an anime porn thing rather than something used to explore the way society and the media dehumanises women, but oh well

shout out to all my fellow monsters

As a dark-skinned woman with short natural hair in an industry still overwhelmingly dominated by white standards of beauty Nyong’o recognizes her potential to be a mirror for other black women and inspire a new generations of actresses. Young women expressing gratitude just for feeling represented decorate her Facebook fan page.
"It feels great. Dwayne Johnson said that greatness is not just what you do but what you inspire others to do. And that really moved me. If young girls feel inspired by my journey right now it’s an honor" - Oscar Nominated Actress Lupita Nyong’o

She is so amazing. SO AMAZING.
